North Korean Human Rights Week Essay Contest

NKHR held an essay contest open to Indonesian university students asking the question, "What is Indonesia's role in North Korean human rights?" The winners are below. We will publish their essays in Indonesian, Korean, and English shortly. 

1. Justitia Avila Veda, Law Faculty, Universitas Indonesia.

2. Clements Emerson Dewanto, International Relations Faculty,  Universitas Nasional.

The winner received a free return flight ticket from Jakarta - Seoul.

The runner-up received a Samsung Galaxi S5.

33 students participated in the essay contest. They were students from 10 universities in Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Lampung, West Sumatera, and even from Taiwan.

The judges were Ms Maria Rita Hasugian, journalist;  Ms Adriana Elisabeth, researcher in LIPI; and Chris Biantoro from Kontras.

The judges announced the winners during the closing ceremony on May 2, 2014 at Museum Galeri Cemara 6, Jakarta Pusat at 3.20 pm.
