|[October 2003] NK "Freedom Bill" in the US Senate|
A bill in the US Senate will call for spending of $200 million through to 2006, to promote
human rights and democracy in North Korea and to support North Korean refugees.
Working on the draft are Senators Richard Luger, John Kyl, Sam Brownback
and Edward Kennedy and Congressmen Henry Hyde and Christopher Cox.
The Chosun journal is working with Senator Brownback's office to collect support from organizations (especially Korean-American churches, civic groups etc.) whose names will be included in the bill.
