The 5th International Conference
on North Korean Human Rights & Refugees: Warsaw, Poland
Invitation to the Conference
Serious human rights violations in North Korea and at the North Korea-China border area have finally come into the spotlight of the international community, as evidenced by the overwhelming adoption of a resolution on North Korean human rights at the 59th Session of the United Nations Commission of Human Rights in 2003.
Persistent monitoring by and careful counseling from the international community is a necessity in order to take another step forward and improve the situation of these countries. The Citizens' Alliance for North Korean Human Rights, in cooperation with the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights, would like to bring together NGO activists, foreign-affairs officials, and international relations professionals to gather and share information and discuss practical solutions at the 5th International Conference on North Korean Human Rights & Refugees from February 29 to March 2, 2004 in Warsaw, Poland. It is significant that this conference is being held in Warsaw for it is where the Polish people, through the Solidarity movement, fought for democracy and human rights.
We are pleased to invite you to participate in our conference. We welcome your interests and ideas on this occasion.
